Student occupied dwelling ordinance

The attorney who filed the mandamus suit to enforce the 3-student rule urged the board to keep the two ordinances separate, arguing students aren't a protected class and the 3-student ordinance serves a legitimate government interest.

A Sylvan Road resident said the 3-student rule was working in his mostly student-rental neighborhood and warned against 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater.'

An Elm Avenue-area resident spoke in favor of students in town, saying they bring off-season life and neighborliness to quiet neighborhoods.
