Groundwater recharge area protections for Post Road corridor development
Several items on this docket — the Dunkin' waiver and both Lift Hair Studio hearings — sit inside the groundwater recharge overlay, where the town scrutinizes anything that could affect drinking water. The Lift Hair Studio proposal includes a carbon filtration system and maintenance plan for salon wastewater.
West Davisville asphalt odor complaints
Residents have endured asphalt plant odors for far too long, and the council is running out of patience. Bitumar says its odor-control equipment will be running by the end of October, and DEM will evaluate whether it actually works. The town is exploring 'aggressive' legal options and a second asphalt company, Meosi, has now been cited too.
Public Safety Complex solar variance
The town won a variance exempting the new all-electric Public Safety Complex from on-site solar requirements, arguing its 100% remote net-metering agreement already exceeds the code's ~8% requirement and adding rooftop panels would cost money for credits it can't use. Some residents want the same scrutiny applied to the new middle school.
