Pleasant Valley Road improvements
The applicant will reconstruct Pleasant Valley Road — widening it to 21 feet with curbing and a guardrail — and pay for it, asking the Town Council to accept the work as a donation. Residents on the narrow road should see better access for fire and emergency vehicles.
Missing sewer extension on Post Road
Resident Richard Welch noted voters approved sewers down Post Road more than a dozen years ago that were never built — which is why groundwater recharge review keeps coming up for Post Road businesses.
Retail sales of dogs, cats, and rabbits ordinance
A new ordinance adding Section 3-26 to the Animals chapter would regulate retail sales of dogs, cats, and rabbits; it was continued from the September 28 meeting for a first reading.
Public Safety Complex solar variance
The town won a variance exempting the new all-electric Public Safety Complex from on-site solar requirements, arguing its 100% remote net-metering agreement already exceeds the code's ~8% requirement and adding rooftop panels would cost money for credits it can't use. Some residents want the same scrutiny applied to the new middle school.
Recreation fee increases at Allen Harbor and golf course
The commission noted a signed road abandonment in the vicinity of Allen Harbor Road, with another expected in the Quidnessett area next month.
