Winter storm preparedness and unified command
After last winter's blizzards left residents frustrated, PEMA and DPW are revamping storm prep with an El Niño winter expected to bring more ice and heavy wet snow. The committee wants better communication to residents and councilors during storms.
After-action reporting on last winter's storms
Councilor Pichardo pushed for a formal written report on what went wrong and right during last winter's historic storms. DPW admitted no formal after-action report exists and committed to better real-time record keeping going forward.
Emergency alerting: Code Red, 311, and wireless alerts
Councilor Sanchez criticized the 311 reporting website as not user-friendly for older or non-English-speaking residents. IT explained why a mobile app was replaced by a responsive web page and reminded callers they can dial 311 directly.
